It was created to accommodate a growing population of Muslims and it moved beyond being neighborhood mosque to multidimensional hub to unite the residents of the Greater Toronto Area. Soon after being established Masjid Syyadina Omar Farooq housed a wide variety of religious and educational programs as well as highly needed social services.<\/p>\n

Nearly 400 worshippers make up the Friday congregation for the Jumuah prayer. Our evening madrasah employs a highly-qualified staff and has about 100 students. We recognize the need to complement education with healthy recreational activities for our youth. It was to this end that Masjid Syyadina Omar Farooq installed basketball nets in the parking lot for our youth to play in a great and safe environment . For our adult members, we host programs ranging from Qur\u2019an learning, teaching and Tafseer.<\/p>\n

Masjid Syyadina Omar Farooq also caters to the community for Ramadhan Taraveeh and iftaar\u2019s in which approx. 100 brothers and sisters break their fast and enjoy a wonderful dinner on a daily basis.<\/p>\n

Masjid Syyadina Omar Farooq is committed to provide quality services to members of our community. The community\u2019s contribution is essential in this time of tremendous growth and progress. To provide guidance on all Masjid and operational matters, Masjid Omar Farooq\u2019s governance is comprised of an elected committee board, which ensures that smooth operation and maintenance is consistent within the organization.<\/p>\n

Accountability and service with integrity are a few characteristics that can be found in the committee, and were the founding principles of our organization. While much has been accomplished since the Maasjid was first built, we pray that we can continue to grow to better serve our community.<\/p>\n
